Talladega Tiger Marching Band to Perform at THS Open House
The Talladega Tiger Marching Band will perform portions of their competitive field show at the THS Open House on August 24, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
During their performance, the band will “travel” to different countries of the world while playing music unique to that country. They will visit Brazil, Asia, Africa, and will finish their production by coming back home to the United States. The ‘Dega Darlins Dance Line will wear costumes from each country.
“ Brazil / Jump In the Line” will have bright carnival dresses and flags for the Dega Darlins. The band will also have a limbo section during the carnival portion of the show.
“Arirang” is a traditional Korean folk tune and will feature senior Francis Headrick on trumpet. The Dega Darlins will wear a traditional mandarin style top and will use silk parasols during the piece while the band spells out letters of the Korean alphabet
Next, the Marching Tigers will visit the African continent and will feature the THS Band’s percussion section. During "Drums of Thunder", The Dega Darlins will wear an African tunic while the rest of the musicians performs on huge African drums, "jingle" poles, and brightly colored flags.
The last song will feature the THS Band as they "come home" to the USA while playing a medley of patriotic tunes.
Talladega High School's Open House will begin at 7:00 with a program in the gym. After this program, parents can follow their student's class schedule to meet teachers and visit rooms.
