Back-to-school plans

Graham Elementary will host a Cookie Social Open House on August 7^th. This gathering will be held from 1:30-3:00 at the school. Parents are invited to stop by to meet teachers, see their classrooms, and enjoy cookies and punch.

Northside-Hal Henderson Elementary is sponsoring a “Meet the Teacher” orientation on August 7^th. Orientation for kindergartens will begin at 4:00, 1st and 2^nd grades at 4:30, 3^rd and 4^th grades at 5:00 and, and 5^th and 6^th grades at 5:30. During this time, parents will hear about plans for the year from their children’s teachers. Parents are invited to meet the teacher and hear about plans for the year. Class lists will be posted outside each room.

Salter Elementary will hold its Open House on August 7^th. The event will begin with 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th graders at 4:00. Kindergarten, 1^st grade, and 2^nd grade will follow at 5:00. Each activity will last for approximately 45 minutes. Parents will meet the teachers for the coming year and, as a group, hear about plans and other valuable information.

Open House for Raymond L. Young parents will be Tuesday, August 7th from 5 until 7 pm AND on Wednesday, August 8th from 1:30-3:30 pm. Come show your support, take a look at the new painted halls and classrooms, the additional building, and meet the dedicated teachers who make Young a great place to learn and grow!

Houston Elementary will hold a combined PTO and Open House on August 7^th beginning at 5:00. All parents are encouraged to attend and hear how they can help their children have a great school year.

At Ellis Jr. High, orientation for 7^th graders will be held on August 6^th. The orientation will begin at 6:00 pm in the lunchroom. The following day, August 7^th, 8^th graders may pick up their schedules between the hours of 8:30 and 11:00. Schedules will be available in the lunchroom.

Talladega High School welcomed incoming 9^th graders with their “Success Abound Program.” During this half-day session, students received their schedules and lockers as well as an orientation of the building and grounds. All of these components were designed to help their first day of high school go smoothly. Students received information on the academic program, excellent tips on study skills, and valuable information which will help them as they prepare to take the Alabama High School Graduation Exam in future years.

The first day of school for all students will be August 9^th. Buses will run, following the same routes as in the spring. Lunch will be served, and the first day will be a full day for all students. Talladega City Schools is moving forward and invites all stakeholders to help make this a great school year for our students.
