Important!! Date changes on school calendar

Please take a moment and note a couple of changes made to our school calendar for this year:

April 27th and April 30th—Both of these now become holidays.

May 4th and May 7th—School will now be in session both of these days.

Why the change? Each spring, we have scheduled a Friday and Monday holiday to coincide with Race Weekend. The date of the race changed; therefore, we adjusted our calendar accordingly.

Internet Safety

At last week's Extravaganza, we talked about some quick and easy tips for helping you keep your child safe while using the Internet and ways that you could use to see what sites were being accessed that computer.

The technology coordinator for the Mountain Brook City Schools has put together a much more detailed PowerPoint presentation. She and I have exchanged e-mails, and she has given her blessing on my sharing the site with you. To access the PowerPoint presentation, click here. Then click on the link entitled “PTA Internet Safety Slideshow.” You will then be able to download that presentation to your computer. The only requirement is that your computer has PowerPoint.

There is a second presentation you may want to download. On the same webpage, you will see a link entitled “Facebook,” which gives detailed information of how that site works and what types of information you would see.

Thanks for coming to the Extravaganza!

Thanks for your support of our Extravaganza. We hope that you took from tonight some ideas you can use. So many people played a part in this event.

Please take a moment to leave us your comments. What did you like? What would you like to see in the future? How could we make an event such as this better? Together, we can do so much!

Please come back to this site often. We all know of websites where the information never changes. I certainly hope you will find this blog to be an exception. The next entry planned for this spot is a link to a more in-depth PowerPoint presentation on internet safety, particularly the "social networking" aspect, such "Facebook." You can look for that information on Wednesday of next week.

The Extravaganza is HERE!

The Back to School Parent Extravaganza will be here on Thursday September 7th from 6 until 8 pm. We are expecting a big crowd at Talladega High School, so come early for good parking and a chance to browse the information tables before the sessions begin. Be sure and put your ticket in the bucket for a door prize!

Looking forward to this exciting event...
