Kindergarten Registration

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Our kindergarten registration is April 23. Parents will need to bring four items:

  1. Birth certificate
  2. Social Security card
  3. Proof of residence
  4. Immunization record (Blue slip)

Registration will be held at each school. Each one will be publishing specifics. Attendance at kindergarten registration is important. Many decisions for the upcoming year are based on the enrollment figures that we have from that registration. If you have questions, call the school office where your child will be attending.

THS Band achieves Superior Rating at State Contest!

For the 2nd time in four years, the Talladega High School Symphonic Band has achieved a Superior Rating at the Alabama Bandmasters Association (A.B.A.) State Concert Band Assessment.

To attend the State Assessment, bands must be recommended by a panel of judges at the district level. One month later, at the State Assessment, bands present a concert of three musical selections of their choice and are graded on beauty of sound, intonation, technique, interpretation of the music, the balance of all the instruments, the musical effect on the listener, and the band's stage deportment.

In addition to the on-stage adjudication, the band must sightread one piece of music chosen by the A.B.A. During this process, the band director and students are instructed to open a package of sheet music that they have never seen and are given 7 minutes to study and discuss that song. After the study period, the band must perform the piece for an additional judge who grades the performance using the same criteria listed above.

After the ratings were announced, the T.H.S. Symphonic Band was awarded a State Assessment Trophy, an additional Superior Rating Plaque, and medals for each of the band students.

Congratulations to all the band members for this great honor.
