Calendar Change

The Board of Education made changes to the 2008-2009 school calendar at last night's meeting:

April 24 is now a holiday.
April 27 is now a professional development day (No students).

May 1 is now a school day.
May 4 is now a school day.

Reminder: December 19 is a Full Day of School

Now is as good a time as any to look at the school calendar and realize that the last day before the Christmas holidays is not an early dismissal. Even though the calendar we have posted on this site has no indication of early dismissal and we have already done an earlier post specifically addressing this point, there will no doubt be those who are still confused and ask why nobody let them know.

School Calendar for 2008-2009

On Monday night, the Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2008-2009 school year. The link to the calendar is here. You will also notice a link on the sidebar.


You will notice two significant points about this calendar:

1. Both students and teachers have an entire week for Thanksgiving.
2. The school year will end a week later than normal. This allows us a little "breathing room" in terms of weather days and race weekends.
